The following is an exhaustive list of options. If the option does not appear as a selection above, it is not applicable to this individual product.
Island-mounted range hoods and most wall mounted range hoods require a duct cover.
A duct cover conceals ventilation behind stainless steel covers. The covers match the finish of your range hood. The height of the duct cover is adjustable for proper location of the range hood above your cook top. Additionally, for range hoods mounted over an island, the duct cover provides structural support for the range hood. (See also Stack Kit )
Brushed stainless is the standard finish with the exception of a few economy under-cabinet models.
As an option, black or white power coating over stainless steel can be select with many models.
The telescopic models are concealed from view under cabinet. When in use the range hood telescopes or extends from 12 inches (concealed position) to either 18 or 22 inches (extended position). The previous measurements are from front to back.
The standard panel is finished to match the body of the range hood. You may order a brushed stainless front panel. Also, the front may be ordered as ready for a wood front panel. (Please note your cabinet maker or installer must supply the wood panel matching your cabinets. The wood panel is not included.)
The power booster delivers a twenty (20%) percent increase in airlow (CFM). This option is available on all range hoods except non-vented models. The power booster enlarges the air pathway increasing the size of the range hood vent(s) from 7-inch round to 8-inch round.
This option provides lights in addition to the standard lighting for specific under-cabinet and wall-mounted range hoods. The additional lights are located above (behind) filters and illuminate through these filters.
This option enables some externally vented units to be operated in a non-vented (recirculating) mode. The kit includes a charcoal filter and internal ducting.
The stack kit for wall-mounted models includes stainless steel duct covers in matching finish. The stack kit for island-mounted models includes duct covers plus a wooden support frame. The stack kit is made to order for our specific measurements.
Dual vented island and wall models may be ordered with this optional ducting. The ducting transitions the dual 7- or 8-inch range hood vents into a single 10 inch vent.
Transitioning to a single vent pipe reduces CFM up to twenty-five (25%) percent. You may partially compensate for this deficit by ordering the power pack option described above.
Any model with variable speed (e.g. twist knob) controls may be ordered wired ready for remote control. This option removes the on-unit controls and adds internal wiring for the remote. (Please note the wall-mounted remote control to match your décor is supplied by your installer and not included.)
Range Hood Selection Guidelines
When selecting a range hood or insert the following are generally considered:
CFM – Airflow is measured in cubic feet per minute (CFM). CFM is calculated as a percentage of the heat (measured as BTU) produced by your cook top. You will find the BTU in the specification section of the cook top manual. (If you know the cook top model number you may also find the BTU rating on line.). CFM will be one percent of the total BTU. Example: if the total BTU is 89,000 than the CFM is 890.
Width – For an island model the range hood should be slightly wider than the cook top. For all other models the range hood should be approximately the same width as the cook top.
Depth– Depth is the front-to-back measurement. For an island model the range hood this measurement should be slightly more than the cook top. For all other models the range hood should be approximately the same depth as the cook top.
Height above Cook Top – The bottom surface of the range hood is normally thirty to thirty-six inches above the surface of your cook top.
The airflow listed for the product is your guarantee of performance. Airflow is measured in cubic feet per minute and referred to as CFM. You are guaranteed this CFM performance when the product is installed according to the manufacturer guidelines.
Note: A transition, often used with high-performance dual vent units will reduce CFM by approximately 25%. Similarly, an elbow (angle) in the vent path will reduce airflow. These performance deficits can be partially attenuated by selecting (at time of order) the power pack option. The power pack provides 20% boost in CFM.
A right angle elbow should not be placed within the initial two feet of the vent path. Otherwise, backpressure results and significantly reduces airflow.
